A Guest Post --- 

 

Seeing it on TV is only half the fun. A sports fan needs to play it to believe it! And so this sports aficionado - an ardent follower of the Snowmobile World Championship - decided to feel what showing off on the white stuff is all about. Snowmass came to mind. 

 

I hadn't been to Snowmass Village or the Colorado Rockies, thanks to the couch potato I am. I chose Snowmass merely because of the novelty of the location. I've been to many ski resorts since, but I tell you, nothing offers the freedom and the incredible of level of skiing competition you'd experience at Snowmass. 

 

The Elk Mountains play host to world class skiing action at the Snowmass Ski Area. I found out what it is to ski and snowboard with top class competitors from around Colorado and the country. I felt a pro, but soon realized I needed to tone up to keep with the expert skiers. Turned to snowmobiling, and felt a rush of power up through my spine when I turned on the ignition. When it got to the head I squeezed the throttle for one racy zip through the snow and landed on my head! Fortunately had the helmet on. My respect for the competitors of the Snowmobile World Championship has shot to the skies since! 

 

 

But I hadn't seen nothing yet. Stayed on till the snow melted to experience summer in Snowmass. Thought the skiing was the ultimate in sports action at Snowmass. That's when I experienced a few rodeo shows at the Snowmass Village Rodeo Grounds. Rodeo at Snowmass is a truly stomach churning experience. The atmosphere is awesome, but I couldn't help thinking how the riders kept their food down as they struggled to stay on the raging bulls! 

 

A whole lot of sporting activities sprang to my mind, and I thought of checking out fly-fishing, paragliding, and horseback riding. Fortunately there were experienced trainers and guides around to make sure I remained in one piece through these sporting endeavors. 

 

 

Sports and Snowmass go hand-in hand. Everyone I met in Snowmass had an adventure to relate. But one thing's sure, if travelers don't reserve their Snowmass vacation rentals well in advance it's gonna be a hard time, as it's a popular destination. I found out it's also the perfect break for couch potatoes!
